Diabetes: Management and Self-Care This exhibit at the National Museum of Health and Medicine is a collaboration with the American Association of Diabetes Educators (AADE). The creation of the AADE content was supported through an educational grant from Eli Lily and Company. This exhibit opened in November 2014 to coincide with National Diabetes Awareness Month and National Diabetes Educators Week. Seven self-care practices essential to successful diabetes management are highlighted through facts, tips, advice, and activities. The seven self-care areas are Healthy Eating, Being Active, Monitoring, Taking Medication, Problem Solving, Reducing Risks, and Healthy Coping. NMHM Chicago and AADE hope to strengthen public knowledge of - and familiarity with - diabetes management, to increase public health and awareness. Please view the online exhibit to learn more.
